Off To Sask... What, another drive she says??

So we got settled in at the Bragg Creek Ranch, and we thought we should probably go on another trip. I think I was a little more pumped than Sylv was, but we both came to the agreement that going to Sask would be good for the kids...Right Sylv? We travelled to Canwood Sask., on Saturday Sept. 18 starting out at 5:30am. We drove straight through to Saskatoon minus a couple potty and treat stops along the way. A highlight on the drive out was driving through Drumheller and seeing all the dinosaurs, as well as losing one hubcap. We then travelled the rest of the way to the huge hamlet of Canwood. We were there to visit our friends Jamie and Kristen Weberg and their daughter Emma, who were at Jamie's parents house, Irvine and Ritas. We had been there once before and actually enjoyed ourselves, so we decided to make a return trip. Jamie has two brothers, Jody and Jason and we enjoyed visting them as well. (Jason is married to Christine and they have 3 kids, Jody is still prospecting...!)

We had a great time being on the farm for a few days and we really felt that it was good for our family. We had fun on the quads, the combines, the big rigs, and the many trucks that were in the yard. Abby and Hannah especially had fun playing with Emma and the dog named Goliath! Such a masculine name for a poodle whose name should really be snowball or puffy. So we played hard and we even got some real farming in, a great time for all. A highlight was giving Irvine his Farmers Briefcase for his 65th birthday. (A pair of briefs customed out with some handles on the top elastic and some goodies in the buttocks section!) Jamie and I golfed Waskesiu golf course ( http://www.waskesiugolf.com/) which is said to be one of Arnold Palmers all time favourite courses to play. IT was amazing and we especially enjoyed avoiding all the elk poo on the fairways with our cart. Speaking of elk, there were plenty on the course and Jamie was so afraid of the bull elk on hole 9 that he could hardly focus on his 5th mulligan ball for that hole. (P.s. Jamie defeated me that day, his first time ever!) We travelled home on Wednesday and had a great trip all the way until Cochrane when we all were about to lose it from being in the van too long. The Plymouth Voyageur did voyage us across three provinces in the last two weeks and we are all a bit closer now, right Sylvia?

Seasons of Change!

The last six weeks have been full of change for our family. In the beginning of August Kevin resigned at PCS after nearly two and a half years. He felt that he was needing to head in a different direction vocationally and so now we are taking some time to figure out what is next for him and the family. We were offered a house to stay in in Bragg Creek Alberta for a year, and we jumped at the chance and went for it. We rented our Victoria house in minutes and were excited that we were able to leave it fully furnished. So we packed up all our personal stuff and put it in storage, and then packed all the things we were going to need over the next year. It was a huge job but we did it and we left the city on Sept. 14th on the 3pm ferry. We spent the night at The Lodge at Twin Creeks (http://www.lodgeattwincreeks.com/) owned and operated by some of our best friends, Pat and Peggy Wiens. We then headed out early Wednesday morning for Bragg Creek Alberta. It was a long trip but we made it and eventually found the house that we were going to be staying in. It felt like we were in the middle of no where, until the morning came which opened our eyes to the beautiful surroundings that were before us. It was the beginning of a new page for us, one that we were looking forward to. Look below at some pictures of the house we are living in, and the surroundings around it.
